We've Aviation Professionals Prepare for their Interviews!
  • I had an interview with Vista America after applying online and receiving an invitation for an initial 30-minute virtual interview. It covered the basics: introducing myself, explaining why I was interested in Vista, and discussing a few Tell Me About A Time (TMAAT) scenarios, followed by five technical questions. The atmosphere was very friendly and professional. A few weeks later, I received an invitation to an in-person interview. They flew me to Columbus, OH, and provided accommodation in a nice hotel, with transportation to and from Vista's impressive modern headquarters, which I found quite appealing. The day started at 7:45 am with a presentation about the company's growth, lasting a little over an hour. Then, we all took a written technical exam with about 20 questions to be completed in 30...

The overall experience typically involves several key components: Preparation: This phase is crucial. Candidates often spend weeks reviewing technical knowledge, regulations, and aviation procedures. Practicing responses to common interview questions and conducting mock interviews can build confidence. Arrival: On the day of the interview, arriving early sets a positive tone. First impressions matter, and professional attire and punctuality contribute significantly. Introduction: The...

The interview was exactly as described by others here. I had a very easy going and down to earth lady who interviewed me. She started out by going over all the benefits that Vista has to offer and how great of a company they are. Spent probably close to 10-15 minutes on that portion then moved into talking about myself and how I got into aviation. Was just a very natural conversation, had no stupid questions.  Conversed for probably 20ish minutes about ourselves and then moved into...

Interview started with recruiter giving all of the info on the company. I was asked about RVSM, DA/MDA, holding speeds, class B airspace, and some TMAT questions. It was a very relaxed interview and very...

The written test was really easy and every question was on this website. I got everything correct. Just read one time before my interview and that was perfect. Sim test was also very basic and nothing was hard. The examiner did every difficult thing and just gave me simple instruction. I did for 40mins sim test and it was very relaxing. I told him what airplane I fly and it was same airplane. They consider your airplane. Interview was for 50mins and very friendly. We just talked about my...

Everything described on this website about the overall experience from the phone screening to the sim at the end of the day is spot on what you can expect. Headquarters are very nice and the team is very kind/informative. However, yesterday at my group interview, they completely changed the technical written exam  It is a whole new exam. The questions were very random and ranged from things like pitot static blockages, ACARS, CPDLS, derived alternate minimums. Our entire group of...

Phone call screening interview was exactly as described by other reports. Took about 50 minutes, mostly friendly conversation. Almost the first 20 minutes were entirely taken up with a description of the benefits of working for the company which was very impressive. She did a great job of selling me on wanting to work for them. Then HR questions, (view the study guide of this website).  Technical questions were very brief and easy, so much so that I only remember two: what is RVSM...

The first interview was over zoom with a recruiter from Vista America. She explained how Vista bought out XO jet and explained schedule, training, pay structure etc. asked about my flying experience, why I’m leaving my current company, any accidents, incidents or checkride failures. She then asked technical questions. Part 135 Regs (Alternate Req) Min Vis Takeoff, and general weather...

Had the interview with Jacqui, pretty laid back. Will start by mentioning all benefits and opportunity you have with the company, then will proceed to ask you a couple of hr questions. (Why XO, what qualities you look in a company, how would you handle a situation with a manager) then will ask you to talk about your self and resume. 5 quick technical questions (what is RVSM, distance from a TS, speed below B, difference in DA and MDA) after that will be a small talk and ask you for your...

This platform offers a wide range of valuable insights covering various crucial subjects! It commences with a general introduction, proceeds to HR inquiries, transitions to technical matters such as maximum hold speed, maximum airspeed, and chart symbology, and concludes with comprehensive information on rotating schedules and work shifts. Additionally, during the interview, I was inquired about my preferred aircraft and location. Despite the majority of the time being occupied by the...

I found the interview process almost exactly as previous candidates. No surprises. There are no tricks or gotchas. The staff responsible for interviews and sim check are professionals that don't require tricks or impossible situations to assess your abilities. Just be yourself and be honest. Really enjoyed the process and met some very interesting people with varied...
