1. Simulator is as briefed. Extremely straightforward. Medical is full. Everything is checked. Eyes, ears, drug usage(hair is collected), x-ray, blood and urine. Very comprehensive. By the time you're done you will definitely know if you're healthy or not. 2. If you don't have it you will have to do an ICAO English exam. Approximately one hour long. Here your Aviation terms come into play. Must be able to describe scenarios given properly. It is quite simple for a native English...

So this was the first hr interview round on video Its nothing much but a basic getting to know you and why do you want to join Cathay, Be ready with a good answer for why should we hire you and what makes you different from other candidates? It is really important that you want to join Cathay and you show him that in the interview. The vibe is generally relax not very strict but then again its just the first... -

The interview was smooth and pretty straightforward! They are extremely polite, organized and punctual! Day 1, Sim assessment at first, they send the PDF. about what’s going to happen, they don’t do pranks or whatever, of course they are very professional and empathetic, email with the answer roughly 25min after we leave the Sim, then we receive the e-mail with information regarding the 2nd step in case you pass the Sim, the same day, the Medical Check. Day 2, Technical and... -

Day 1 - Started with checking in at the reception in Cathay City and then up to recruitment center. There were 4 candidates including me who were here for the DEFO final assessment. We were given a welcome briefing which included a basic document check of your ID and pilot's license, and then led to their simulator center. We met with their Boeing training manager who was going to be the one conducting our assessment. We introduced ourselves. 3 of us had Regional Jet background and one was... -

This was the initial interview for Direct Entry First Officer (Wide body Fleets). It was just over 30 minutes and it was really about getting to know who I was and why I wanted to work for Cathay Pacific. The interviewer asked a lot of questions about Hong Kong, why do I want to live there? Where would I live etc. Then started to ask what about Cathay made me want to work there? Aircraft fleet, what aircraft would I like to be assigned and would I fly other aircraft. Then I was asked... -

My interview process started back in May 2024, where my initial application for DEFO was accepted for the initial teams interview. This consisted of 1 person from HR in a general chit chat about Cathay, it's not a technical interview they want to see who you are and find out if you're worth pursuing. I heard back 3 days later that I would proceed, and due to life/work I delayed my final interview until October which they happily let me do. During the time the standard medical, licence, hrs... -

Sim Assessment in a B777-300 and is follow exactly the brief they give you. I had to fly raw data for 2 ILS approaches. Interview: Mixture of HR/Tech questions. Usual HR as in study guide. Tech questions asked were about weather (cold/warm fronts), jet and piston engine differences and how each works. Difference between swept and straight wings and how carburettor works. THat's all I could... -

Took about 6 weeks for the initial interview via MS Teams. Basic HR stuff, nothing too invasive. It was primary to demonstrate HR that you’re sincere about joining and have done your research. Since I was older, the interviewer asked in depth about my previous career, why the transition now and goals. The guides here will be more than... -

Applied for the Direct Entry (First Officer) Position. The online interview happened via TEAMS. Only one male from HR. Friendly and easy to talk to. 30 minutes straight forward questions just like HR questions in study guide. Really emphasized on how willing are you to move to HK. Used several approaches to make sure you want to go there. Checked some documents after the interview. The next step would be, if successful, to be invited for a face-to-face interview with HR and a technical pilot... -

Attended the whole process. Sim was the first thing to do. Standard profile as they send on the email one week before the assessment. It could be on A330/ A350/ B777, and will be mentioned clearly in the guide. you only have to memorise the profile. there is an engine failure in the second flight which is not clearly mentioned in the profile so prepare that too, and single engine landing info is also given in the guide. Next day is interview where you will be asked many questions about CX,... -
