2. (Dec 10, 2024) Interview is as described on this website. I arrived to HQ just before 8am. There were 4 of us interviewing in my session. We greeted the recruitment team in the lobby (consisting of 2 HR and 2 Captains). We were led to cafeteria where they had snacks/coffee/water available to us. Study Guide Questions for Your Frontier Airlines Interview:
- 1. What is the longest flight you would accept with all the LAV's MEL'd?
- 60 minutes
- 2. What is the difference between light chop and light turbulence?
- Chop causes a jolt or disturbance but not much change in altitude/ attitude and turbulence has jolt or bumps that do change altitude / attitude. Chop is can be labeled light or moderate and turbulence can be light, moderate, sever or extreme.
- 3. What are the different types of structural icing?
- Rime, clear, mixed
- Clear rime mixed

- 1 - Trace Ice (Sign for heavier accumulation to follow) 2 - Clear Ice (From supercooled droplets striking on surface but not freezing rapidly on contact) Conditions: 0°C to -10°C - Glassy. Mainly on leading edge 3 - Rime Ice (Rapid freezing of supercooled droplets on contact. Conditions: -10°C to -20°C - Milky. Forms over streamlined extension of wing 4 - Mixed Ice (Mixture of Clear Rime Ice) - Forms between -8°C to -15°C 5 - Frost (Thin layer occurs on clear, calm wind nights temperature and dewpoint below freezing) 6 - Inter-Cycle Ice (Accumulation on protected surface between actuation cycles) 7 - Residual Ice (Remainder of ice over protected surface post actuation cycle) 8 - Run-Back Ice (Freezing or refreezing of water leaving the protected surfaces)

- No wheelchair or help an old lady off an airplane. An unique above and beyond.

- Currently (Jan 2020), all Frontier info is briefed by the Chief Pilot over the first hour of the day and no one is being asked to know this as part of the interview process. Might want to Google a pic of Barry Biffle so you recognize him when he drops in!

- Read up on the company. Fleet size. Where they came from, all their old slogans. Who their CEO is. Who have they bought or invested in.
- 9. (Mar 11, 2025) Tell me about a time you had a conflict with a coworker?
- Had a conflict with a captain during my first IOE flight. I explained why I felt this way. Even though it was initially tough to be so bold, he and I later became friends. He said he respected my ability to speak up, especially since I was new.
- 10. What makes a Great Captain?
- Someone who encourages open communication and is an effective decision maker.
What types of things will be asked in a Simulator or Scenario exercise?

You will be partnered with another pilot. Whoever has less flight time will be the "captain". They give you a SID, ATIS, TAF and a written paragraph with facts about the flight. Whoever had less time was assigned the Captain/Pilot Flying role and the other the First Officer/Pilot Monitoring. We sat down at an A320 paper tiger and were given exactly 2 minutes to review 2 laminated sheets that included a brief overview (DEN-LAS flight with an MEL'd EGPWS/terrain) of the scenario, and the ATIS - light snow was falling, temps were in the negatives. After the 2 minutes were up, the Captain was asked to provide a "threats briefing" for the flight (MEL'd EGPWS, light snow falling, some taxiway closures, RCAM 5/5/5 for all runways, 2 junior pilot candidates with 2 senior FAs, temps M07/M09 etc.).
