Interview experience:
I submitted my application online on a Friday and was called in for an interview on Monday. They put you in the Holiday Inn the night before. You have to be there by 7 p.m. This is so they know who actually showed up.
In the morning one of the company's long-time pilot's along with one representative from H.R. drove us to the training facility.
There was a short presentation about the company. There was mention of their 767 project. After the presentation there was a 20 question multiple choice test.
Some questions I remember were: If a 4 engine airplane departs an airport below mins, what is the takeoff alternate, on an IFR flight plan in VFR conditions who is responsible for separation, TAS does what with an increase of temp, when do you time in a hold, if you are tracking the 100 course TO an NDB which way to turn to track the 090 course TO station, required reports to ATC. The questions go either way so answer what you honestly think is right.
They do the drug test right there on sight.
There is a 4 on 1 H.R./Technical question and answer session. They ask questions related to the type of flying you have been doing. Nothing too hard.
The sim is desktop FlightSimulator set up like an MD-80. Extremely touchy. They just want to see you can fly radials and an ILS. Departed LAX with a left turn to intercept a radial from L.A. VOR. another left turn to intercept a radial to Seal Beach. About 10 mi from Seal Beach they give a hold. Teardrop entry. From the hold a heading was given to intercept a Course to an NDB (it's not there anymore, they just need to make sure you can do NDB work).
Everyone was extremely nice. Great people who work for a great company. I wasn't sure if I was going to get the call because I was a little nervous on the HR part. But I got called and offered the job. Training starts March 10th I can't wait!!!
