Interview experience:
I met with the DO and HR. Interview process was very basic. The attitude is that if you have the time, especially any 121 experience, you are qualified. Not sure why they are concerned about 121 time as this is on demand charter, freight only. Flying around 300-400 hours a year in a 40 year old DC 9. No technical questions. No pressure and total at ease and laid back.
Most of the interview questions came from HR. Why 135 on demand? How do you feel sitting around a hotel for several days at time? What is the worst captain you have flown with? What is the best captain you have flown with? What would your prev employers say about you?
In meeting with the DO, and our discussions surrounded pay. $40K for FO with a list of bonus opportunities. Sometimes you may load or unload plane with pallet jacks, but you do get paid bonus. "Go getters" make more money working on your days off (paid a daily rate). Realistic pay is mid 40's and "go getters" around 50K. Pay starts on day 1 of training.
Could be up to 14 days off and there is a bid system. Base pay is salary and days off are random. No vacation and no sick time. No jump seat privileges so unless you pay for it, no commuting. Plane is rarely in Dallas, so they airline you, bus you, hitch a ride on a Falcon jump seat, "whatever it takes" to get you to the plane.
At the end of the day, if you reside within a reasonable 1 1/2 hour of ADS, have 135 on demand charter time and any 121 time, the job is yours. DO describes it as a "spring board" to the next gig with upgrade avg time 18 months.
I opted to pass on the offer. Good luck!
