Interview experience:
All the previous guys hit it perfectly. No technical or sim, just a lot of TMATT and customer service/worst-best experience stuff. WHY you want to be there, worst/best decision you ever made, and just RELAX. The staff wants you to succeed, so act NORMAL and respectfully humble (if that is possible for a pilot). Do your homework and research AirTran so you know the company, its values, and goals. This is pretty much a VFR face check to make sure you're not too weird or wacky or will look bad in the uniform; so dress sharp, be well groomed, act professional, and smile because you ARE glad to be there and DO want the job. They've already seen your resume and have that and your application in hand when you sit down to talk. Average candidate appeared to be 30ish RJ Captains with hours and experience and a couple of older cargo guys. Plenty of friendly new-hires on class breaks to socialize with and pick up company info. SO much better way to interview/select pilots than the bizzare HR-driven Kabuki Theater I've witnessed at other "legacy" carriers. It will be the best interview experience you'll have in the industry!
