Interview experience:
Hi everyone.... hope my experience with Airnet helps others any way here's the scoop.
Flew in on an Airnet Lear 35a to Ohio the morning before the interview so i could get some practice in the Frasca. The crew going out was very friendly and talkative. It was an eye opener . Flew the sim for one hour to practice the day before . That sim is so squirley I cannot believe anyone does well in it . I have flown Ftd;s level 4 and level D sims but none acted like this sim .Anyway next day met for the interview and had the initial company discussion lecture about Airnet and all the benefits This is when I heard Airnet is being bought out by another company. Which made me wonder a little. That being said I next went and took the 60 ? written which though I was well prepared for I found to be a little difficult but still felt I passed Weather, FAR's , currency, weather minimums.
Half way through the test I was brought in for the oral interview which was straight from the interview packet .
I was asked if I ever left a 135 or 121 program and I replied yes I left in the middle of 121 training due to sim issues and what turns out to be a downturn in the economy. My departure was voluntary but as soon as the interviewer heard this I knew I was done . I have heard that he is known to not hire people who have left other training events on another web board.
I went back to finish the test and lunch was bought for us and some say this is the real HR session. A bunch of nice guys sitting around shooting the breeze.
Upon completing the test went and did the sim which was as described in previous gouge . My procedures were good but not being familiar with the panel layout made it difficult to fly and communicate, time the holds, use the pilot controlled lighting which is on a separate frequency , locate the timer on the DME panel when appropriate. I think you get the picture.
What I am saying here that if you are familiar with the layout of the Frasca you should do well . The main problem is the sim is very pitch sensitive so if its not trimmed properly from the start. you are probably doomed until the end. They were not just looking at your procedures but wanted to see you could" do it all".fairly well given the unfamiliarity with the panel and a good amount of multi tasking scenarios..
I was scheduled to leave at 0 dark 30 the next morning and went over to t-company as I was listed with the crew for the return trip ......unfortunately the crew never looked for me and almost left without me . I had someone there intercede and he got me on the flight 30 seconds before departure . After introducing myself the captain said "hop on" but that was probably the last words he spoke to me the whole flight. No big deal guess he's just not a talkative guy. All in all I have to say that Airnet seems like a nice place to work and have some really nice folks to work with. Had I been offered the job I would have declined anyway I start 121 ground school in 2 weeks somewhere else and am in the hiring pool elsewhere so I am not too broke up about it.. Oh I will also not have to fly in the middle of the night which is not really my bag.
In closing I just want to say that Airnet seems like a place people like to work at and are very friendly Where else can you fly 135 and wear jeans and sandals to work and get paid pretty well and get excellent experience to boot.
